Our History

Established in 1976, Y.A.L.E. School was founded by professionals who believed that students with disabilities deserved a responsive and effective learning environment.

They combined expertise in academic and vocational education as well as child study team services to open a small program in Woodbury, NJ.

They created a vibrant model that enabled students to develop and flourish at every stage, whether in the elementary grades or the teen years. The acronym, “Y.A.L.E.,” represents their vision for a “Young Adolescents Learning Experience.” In 2006, Y.A.L.E. introduced innovative community-based programs for individuals ages 18 – 21, further expanding the Y.A.L.E. community of leaners.

Y.A.L.E. School now has 10 locations throughout Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia and serves hundreds of students from more than 90 school districts.
