In the interest of student safety, all Y.A.L.E. campuses will follow an early dismissal schedule on Monday, April 8, 2024, due to the timing of the solar eclipse. This historic event will occur between the hours of 2:08 pm and 4:35 pm.
To avoid students risking serious eye damage from looking at the sun without proper eye protection, Y.A.L.E. School is coordinating with district bus transportation to ensure that students are dismissed early and arrive home before the eclipse occurs.
Please see the early dismissal times noted below for each campus. You may also consult the Y.A.L.E. School Calendars found on the website.
We encourage you to watch the short video here from Dr. Sunir Garg, a retina specialist from Will’s Eye Hospital. Dr. Garg provides important guidance regarding the importance of safety certified eclipse viewing eyewear for those observing Monday’s event. All eye professionals caution that regular sunglasses do not provide the necessary protection for viewing a solar eclipse. We thank you in advance for taking the necessary precautions for you and your children.
Be safe, and thank you for your continued cooperation as we work together to safeguard the well-being of the entire Y.A.L.E. community.
