March 2, 2022

Dear YALE School Community:

On Monday, February 7, 2022, New Jersey Governor Murphy announced that the statewide mask mandate for both schools and child care settings will end, effective March 7, 2022.

Below please see details of the changes that will go into effect on March 7, 2022, for all New Jersey YALE Schools and professional offices:

Face Masks

Face masks will be optional for students and staff, both indoors and outdoors. This includes during the school day, as well as before and after school events, and weekend/holiday events.

As per NJDOH mask wearing will be required during periods of elevated community transmission (CALI red or orange), during active outbreaks, during days 6-10 after returning from isolation or quarantine, when illness occurs in school, and during Test to Stay.

Face Masks Optional on Buses (unless required by school district)

Effective February 25, 2022, CDC no longer requires wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private schools. Students must follow the mask-wearing rules of his/her school district on school buses to and from YALE School. On YALE School internal bus runs, masks will be optional.

Public School and College Settings

Students and staff must abide by the mask policies of their host programs.

School Nurse’s Office

Students and staff are required to wear masks in the school Nurse’s office.

Small Office Spaces

Students may be encouraged to wear masks when meeting with individual therapists in small, confined offices.

Outside of School Requirements/Field Trips

Students and staff traveling to outside schools or facilities for field trips or activities must abide by the mask policies of the site they are visiting.

All Other Health & Safety Protocols

Aside from Governor Murphy’s lifting of the mask mandate, all other existing health and safety protocols will remain in effect until further notice.

We will continue to monitor transmission rates in our schools and community. Should new evidence emerge which would impact the health and safety of our students and staff we may need to revisit our above policies.

On behalf of YALE School, we want to sincerely thank all of you for your cooperation and patience in regard to all these guidelines. We are hopeful that we are turning the final pages related to this pandemic and eagerly look forward to a normal spring for all of us.
